The Group’s operations are split into two geographic regions – Europe and Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific (AMAP).

The Challenge

Vodafone embarked on implementing a single ERP system (SAP) across its 20 plus markets (85,000 + users) in what was their single largest IT transformation in their history enabling Group Shared Service Centres for Finance and the Vodafone Procurement Company.

To maximise the benefits of the implementation it was critical to have accurate data to enable quality reporting across the markets. This required standardised data being held in the systems for key data fields across all markets, whilst minimising localisations as much as possible.

The Solution

Red Ant Consulting was commissioned to help structure and project manage the portfolio of data and reporting standardisation activity across markets driven by a central team of data and reporting experts and market representatives. This involved establishing project delivery plans within the organisation’s existing gated system change methodology, establishing project governance and introducing control mechanisms such as stakeholder management, risks & issues, dependencies and budget management.

This resulted in a consistent and structured approach to ensure that the right strategic changes were made to SAP by aligning with the annual business plan and executing the delivery projects via the Data & Reporting teams, delivering to time and meeting the quality criteria through robust testing. The control and governance ensured that all key stakeholders were kept up to date with progress and that effective decisions were made efficiently.

The Benefits

The project delivered significant improvements such as the standardisation of 200 plus data fields, annual data management process for the Reward and Talent management cycles, introduction of a reporting hub, self-service reports for key information (for line managers and employees) and the introduction of a data quality tool which drove data quality to 99%.
